Brick Work Completed - 1/5/08 thru 1/12/08

The brick work was finally completed on January 11th.
Brick detail around dining room windows.

Brick detail around double windows.

Brick detail around garage windows. You may have noticed some windows have side brick detail and some do not. The ones without will have window shutters installed.

Garage

Brick detail around garage doors.

East facing side of house.

Back, south facing side of house. You may have also noticed that windows on the front of the house have grids and the ones in the back do not. We left them off the back so as not to interfere with the great views from the back. Why then, you may ask, is there grids on the one basement window? There is some logic to the madness. The basement is one large room. We put grids in the one back window to be consistant with the three other basement windows which face toward the front of the house and have grids.

For some of my relatives viewing this photo the red brick in the center may be significant. It was originally from the Nelson County, Kentucky home of my Great Grandparents Ben and Affie Boggs where they resided from 1919 until his death in 1935. The brick was provided to me by my cousin Mark Thorpe from Indianapolis, Indiana.

The brick is now located at the front door of our new home.
